Avatar & Wearable Submission Guidelines

This document outlines the requirements and best practices for submitting avatars and wearables to OpenPage (:OP:). These guidelines are intended to help creators self-validate their submissions before publishing, reduce compatibility issues, and protect the broader OP ecosystem as it scales.

Overview

OpenPage is designed to be an open, creator-first platform. To maintain a safe, legally compliant, and technically compatible environment, certain technical and content constraints must be respected. Following these guidelines helps:
  • Reduce submission issues and delays
  • Avoid post-publication restrictions or removals
  • Maintain long-term compatibility across supported environments

Common Submission Issues

Avatar Height Requirements

Supported height range: 1 meter – 2 meters (Z-axis) Avatars must be at least 1 meter tall and no taller than 2 meters. Avatars outside this range may:
  • Not load reliably in OP viewers
  • Create compatibility or performance issues
  • Trigger restrictions or removal after submission
Best practices
  • Measure avatar height prior to submission
  • Confirm the Z-axis dimension is between 1m and 2m
  • Use Sideload resizing tools if adjustments are needed
  • Re-export and validate dimensions before publishing
⚠️ Submissions outside the supported height range may be restricted or removed at any time to preserve platform compatibility.

Intellectual Property (IP) & Originality

All submissions must use original names, thumbnails, and branding. Not allowed:
  • Using protected or unauthorized IP in names or branding
  • Reusing third-party NFTs, characters, or artwork as thumbnails
  • Implying official affiliation, partnership, or endorsement without authorization
Allowed:
  • Original characters inspired by general aesthetics
  • Parody or stylized inspiration that does not copy protected identity markers
  • Fully custom thumbnails and titles
Creators are responsible for ensuring they have rights or permission to use any referenced material.

MML Hosting & Valid URLs

Submissions must include a valid, properly hosted MML URL
(not a direct GLB file link).
Common issues:
  • Temporary editor-hosted MML links
  • Links that expire or change ownership
  • Incorrect file type submitted
What to check
  • Confirm URL resolves to an .mml file
  • Ensure hosting is stable and long-term
  • Test links in a logged-out or private browser session
OP is actively exploring creator-friendly hosting options. More guidance will be shared as solutions mature.

Platform Content Standards

To maintain a healthy ecosystem, certain types of content are not allowed on OpenPage.

Prohibited Content Includes

  • Content that infringes intellectual property rights
  • Stolen or unauthorized digital assets
  • Misleading or impersonation-based content
  • Content that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Harmful or abusive content, including hate speech or exploitation
  • Spam, malicious links, or deceptive distribution tactics
Creators are encouraged to report content that appears to violate these standards.

Potential Platform Actions

If content is found to violate guidelines or platform policies, OpenPage may take actions including:
  • Reducing visibility or feature availability
  • Disabling monetization or transfer-related functionality
  • Removing platform-level discovery or promotion
  • Fully removing or disabling content access
These actions may occur at any time to protect users and the ecosystem.

Misleading or Impersonation-Based Content

Content designed to mislead users is not allowed, including:
  • Impersonating brands, creators, or public figures
  • Fake verification indicators or trust signals
  • Content designed to trick users into interacting with malicious links
  • Collections or avatars presented as official when they are not
If content is unofficial or inspired by something external, it should be clearly positioned as original or fan-created.

Reporting & Rights Protection

OpenPage respects applicable intellectual property and copyright laws. If you believe content violates your rights, reports should include:
  • Proof of ownership or authorization
  • Clear identification of the content in question
  • Contact information for follow-up
Repeated or intentional infringement may result in broader account-level restrictions.

Submission Checklist (TL;DR)

Before submitting, confirm:
  • ✅ Avatar height is between 1m and 2m (Z-axis)
  • ✅ Name and thumbnail are original
  • ✅ MML URL is valid and properly hosted
  • ⚠️ Submissions may be restricted or removed if guidelines are not met

Creator Responsibility & Platform Integrity

OpenPage aims to remain open and permissionless and does not act as a proactive gatekeeper for all submissions. Creators are responsible for ensuring their content:
  • Meets these guidelines
  • Does not introduce legal, technical, or ecosystem-wide risk
  • Remains compliant with applicable laws and platform policies
Submission acceptance does not guarantee permanence. Content may be:
  • Restricted
  • Disabled
  • Removed
if it is later found to violate policies or introduce risk.

Why These Guidelines Exist

These guidelines are designed to:
  • Protect creators from unexpected removals
  • Maintain a safe and trusted creator ecosystem
  • Preserve an open, self-regulated creation environment
By optimizing for these constraints upfront, creators help ensure a healthier and more sustainable platform for everyone.
Thank you for building on OpenPage and helping push the edge responsibly.
